The Concept
The Distributional Equity project objective is to promote fair access to environmental benefits for poverty reduction and sound natural resource management.
It is the aim of this project that within the next five years the government adopt and implement distribution policies that reduce poverty by promoting more equitable access to environmental benefits while providing incentives for sound natural resource management.
This project concept was initiated and is funded by World Resources Institute (WRI) and at the global level the purpose is to ensure that the distribution of environmental costs or benefits is recognized in the international discourse on poverty reduction and in the preparation and implementation guidelines for major poverty reduction instruments, such as the Poverty Reduction Strategy Programs (PRSPs) and Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
