CEPA core staff
consists of environmental lawyers, economists and scientists. In addition
to these CEPA utilizes a multi-disciplinary network of Research Fellows
from academia and other NGOs; this enables us to effectively respond to
the multifaceted nature of environmental problems.
William Chadza, Executive Director
William Chadza has
several years of professional experience managing programmes in both
national and international institutions. Over the years he has been
successfully working in NGO programme management focusing in natural
resources management, sustainable rural livelihoods, human capital
development, policy reform and local government strengthening. He is a
graduate from the University of Malawi, Bunda College of Agriculture.
Gracian Banda , Director of Legal Services
He is a lawyer
specializing in environment and development law and policy. He has had a
successful career in legal practice, university teaching, consultancy and
research and as director and member of public companies and organizations
in Malawi. He has a Master of Laws in International Economic Law and has
since 1994 specialized in environmental law and policy, constitutional
law, corporate law, land law and intellectual property law.
George
Phiri (Dr), Biodiversity
Specialist
George Phiri
is a biological scientist specializing in policy analysis and
institutional review for food security, biodiversity conservation and
resilient livelihood, natural resources management, with special focus on
critical issues in sustainable development and climate change
vulnerability and adaptation, development and implementation of integrated
management plans on invasive alien species and arthropod pests, and
knowledge management. He holds
degrees of PhD (Interdisciplinary Ecology), MSc (Agricultural Biology),
BSc (Agriculture) and Postgraduate Certificate in Natural Resources
Management. He is an active member
of the Society of Conservation Biology, Ecological Society of America and
the Pesticides Association Network
(PAN-Africa).
Hendricks Phiri , Programme Officer
Hendricks is a development economist specialising in socio-economic policy analysis and development. He has several years working experience in championing collective economic governance through public policy analysis and advocacy particularly from the civil society window. He has, since 2004 been involved in implementation and management of donor funded projects. He has Master of Arts in Development Economics and Bachelor of Social Sciences Degrees.
Chisimphika Mphande, Assistant Programme Officer
Chisimphika holds a BSc Degree in Environmental Science and
Technology from The Polytechnic – University of Malawi. She is the communications officer for CEPA. She also coordinates activities of the Civil Society Climate Change Network.
Her other duties
involve assisting programme staff in training,
research, analysis and report preparation, development of CEPA’s
publications, management of CEPA’s website and all IT tasks.
Mcdell Chingeni, Accountant
Mcdell holds a
Diploma in Accounting with Association of Certified Chartered Accountant
(ACCA) from the Malawi College of Accountancy and he is responsible for
overall accounting functions of the institution. He prepares budgets,
regular financial reports and facilitates auditing in accordance with the
requirements of funding agencies. Mcdell also does general administration
duties including support staff supervision.
